Bio Valerie Swennen

After 20 years as Sr Detective Chief Inspector and operational experience as teamleader and investigations in 'Human related Crimes', Valerie Swennen build expertise in: Child abuse, Vice, Human Trafficking, Forensic interviewing, Child pornography... And, in particular Domestic Violence.

Coming from a Police culture in which working on DV was "no real police work" she always believed in seeing the bigger picture and fought for a multidisciplinary approach.

Trainer and teacher at Campus Vesta, the police school of Antwerp, in the role and approach of domestic violence and child abuse by law enforcement. Co-author of the Belgian handbook on domestic violence for police and prosecutors and author storytelling "Seeing the violence through the complex divorce."

Today DV and the development of new FJC's is a priority, so working closely with FJC is no longer the exception!

As Liaison for Police @ FJC and for Dutch Gouvernment she continues to engage in the development of new FJC's.
