Bio Ingrid Vermeiren
One year after the breakup, my ex-partner started stalking me. He showed up unexpectedly wherever I was. I thought it was strange, started checking everything and found a tracker under my car.
He started sending threatening posts on social media. Everything was reported to the police. They invited him and he was questioned. He said he wouldn't do it again. The police believed him. A week later, I found the second tracker under my car.
The sad thing was, I knew him. The police didn't. I knew he wouldn't give up. After a few months, it quieted down and I stopped noticing him, unaware that he rented a hirecar and changed it every month. It turned out he had quit his job. I only read that in the court file a year later. It would have been a red flag if the police had kept an eye on him.
He had the time to fully focuss on his project. And that project was ‘me’. I had to disappear from this world.
On October 20, 2023, I was walking down the street all alone when he suddenly stood in front of me with a shotgun. He shot me twice at close range, and my life-and-death struggle began.
